April 03, 2017 - PRESCRIPTION DRUG TAKE BACK DAY ANNOUNCED
The Nashua Police Department is conducting a Prescription Drug Take Back day in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) On Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The program is designed to help the citizens of this community dispose of their unused or out of date prescription drugs in a legal manner. The location of this event will take place at the DPW garage located on Stadium Drive, Nashua, NH. The garage itself is behind the Conway arena and beside Stellos Stadium right off of Riverside Dr. Traffic cones will be setup to direct traffic around the building and into a bay within the garage were the prescriptions will be dropped off. The prescriptions can be dropped off in the original containers and no questions asked.
• Persons may not dispose of any dangerous, hazardous, or non-compliant items in a collection receptacle or a mail-back package. This includes medical sharps and needles (e.g., insulin syringes), and compressed cylinders or aerosols (e.g., asthma inhalers).
• Other non-compliant items that may not be placed into a collection receptacle or mail-back package include iodine-containing medications and mercury-containing thermometers.
• Accepting these materials places the collector at risk, and might cause a dangerous situation. You should continue to use any valid methods you currently utilize to dispose of those medications and medical implements.
• Carefully review the authorized collector’s instructions for what is and is not acceptable to place into the collection receptacle or mail-back package. If you have any questions, you should ask the Officer’s on site that day.
We would encourage the citizens of this community to take advantage of this program and help us in the disposal of these drugs, and help keep them off the streets and out of our water supplies. If you have any questions concerning this program please contact Lt. Kevin Rourke at 603-594-3591 or go to the website: http://www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/drug_disposal/takeback/
